Phil interviews journalist and author, Arnold August, about the possibility of US military intervention in Venezuela. This "October Surprise" is a possible military attack, geared up to boost Trump's re-election.
August observes that the Lima Group, of which Canada is a leading member, has no mailing address, no fax number, and no phone number. It is merely a front for the US empire, claiming that it supports a "peaceful transition to democracy in Venezuela." Canada was silent when the US openly supported naval and terrorist attacks on Venezuela.
August uses the opportunity of the interview to call upon all members of the Canadian Parliament and Canada's trade union leaders to distance themselves now from any "October surprise," and from pretender Juan Guaido. August also states that he will join the Green Party of Canada precisely to participate in the election of Dimitri Lascaris, who has traveled to Venezuela and reported favourably from there about the Maduro government.
Finally, August outlines two of the pretexts being used to drum up support for military intervention in Venezuela. One is the claim that Venezuela is doing a poor job in fighting COVID-19. Actually, Venezuela is doing relatively well on this score while Peru and Colombia [Canada's main partners in the Lima Group] are doing very poorly. The other pretext is that Venezuela is a narco-state. Nothing could be further from the truth. Colombia is the main narco-state in South America.
