Following the January 11 meeting between First nations leaders and the prime minister on critical issues facing Canada's indigenous population, this week's installment of the Global Research News Hour continues the discussion initiated last week on the Idle no More Indigenous resistance movement with John Schertow who runs the website intercontinentalcry.org and puts this movement in the context of hundreds of on-going indigenous struggles around the world.

WE follow that discussion with a retrospective on Haiti, following the third anniversary of the earthquake which ravaged the country killing and displacing hundreds of thousands. Three years and more than 6 billion dollars later why does recovery for the Caribbean island country seem to remain remote? Ottawa based writer and artist – activist Jean St-VIl who has travelled to Haiti regularly since the earthquake shares his perspectives on what has happened and why.
