Part One – News Review and Investigative Reports

Keir Starmer as establishment leader. Rosebank oil from North Sea. Bye-election 5th October – Margaret Ferrier SNP had to stand down. Sunak urges Rosebank is the ‘right long-term decision for UK’s energy security’ Rosebank is one of the UK’s largest untapped fossil fuel resources. Rishi Sunak said it “makes sense to use our own supplies” and urged it is the right long-term decision for the UK’s energy security.” Britain’s future energy security was handed a massive boost after drilling at a major oil and gas development off the coast of Scotland was given the go-ahead. Ministers said Rosebank – one of the largest untapped fossil fuel resources in UK waters – would also protect hundreds of thousands of jobs and save billions of pounds. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said it “makes sense to use our own supplies”, adding: “This is the right long-term decision for the UK’s energy security.” Drilling at the oil field, said to contain 300 million barrels, was given the green light despite condemnation from Labour, the SNP and activists. A majority of the oil and gas is expected to be sold to Europe and reimported as refined products. Net Zero Secretary Claire Coutinho said that even by 2050 oil and gas will still be producing a quarter of Britain’s power. She said: “The choice we face is this: do we shut down our own oil and gas leaving us reliant on foreign regimes? Do we lose 200,000 jobs across the UK? “Do we import fuel with much higher carbon footprints instead? And lose billions in tax revenue? Keir Starmer’s approach will lead to higher emissions and fewer British jobs. Labour would leave us worse off and threaten our ability to keep the lights on.” The move widens the dividing line between Labour and the Tories over net zero, after the PM signalled a shift in approach last week. Mr Sunak pushed back the ban on sales of new diesel and petrol cars from 2030 to 2035, saying he wanted to be honest with the public about the trade-offs involved in cutting emissions.

The legacy media such as the BBC are doing somersaults over the failure to make the population hate Russell Brand – despite last week’s hatchet job on him – so they invite other legacy media chiefs – in this case MI^’s poodle Kath Viner – to commiserate – Katie Razzle interviews Kath Viner, Guardian editor – Rumble and conspiracy culture, allegations against Russell Brand. Kuumba Centre – Council want them out. Attendee says what Kuumba means to her. Community Coups. Kuumba Centre supporters vow to block council eviction of community ‘lifeline’ – Today, Bristol City Council is ordering the people who have run a ‘lifeline’ community centre in St Pauls to leave. Last night, there was standing room only at a public meeting where the community said ‘no’ A packed eleventh-hour public meeting in St Pauls last night voted to back the board members who have been running a ‘lifeline’ community centre, and pledged to physically block any attempts by council officials to take over the building. Supporters of the Kuumba Centre said they have ‘soldiers ready to sleep here’ to ‘safeguard’ the space. Board members who have been running the arts and community centre in Hepburn Road for the past 12 years have been told they have to hand over possession of the building to Bristol City Council today (Thursday, September 28). But more than 100 members of the St Pauls and Stokes Croft communities came together last night, Wednesday, to express support for them, and pledge defiance against what one community activist called ‘an attempted coup by the council’. A legal notice was last night placed on the doors of the Kuumba Centre by the board warning the council that its attempt to take back control of the building was being challenged, and that legal challenge will be presented to the courts in the morning, asking for a pause on whatever action the council has planned to take over the centre. Bristol City Council has told Bristol Live that the Kuumba Project Ltd board are occupying the council-owned centre ‘without a valid lease and without the express consent of the local authority’. There was standing room only at an often emotional and passionate public meeting at the Kuumba Centre on Wednesday night. Three board members, Sister Nwanyi, Deborah Benjamin and Rachel Barclay outlined how the current board had taken over the running of the centre back in 2011 when the previous Kuumba charity organisation collapsed. They told the community members that they had paid an annual £100 peppercorn lease and their premises licence fee to Bristol City Council for more than a decade, and never taken any funding from the city council. Since then the Kuumba Centre had evolved into a flexible space with units rented by local artists and creative people, with spaces hired for a wide range of community events. Sister Nwanyi said the centre had originally been given to Bristol’s Rastafari community way back in the mid-1970s, and the current board were running it as volunteers for the whole community. But back in November 2022, the city council sent a letter telling the board that their lease was no longer valid, they weren’t allowed to have a premises licence – which enabled them to stage events later than 11pm – and even worse, they had to vacate the Kuumba Centre. In May this year, Bristol Live revealed how the council confirmed the board would have to ‘hand back’ the centre, and said the board were effectively trespassing or squatting in the building they had run and maintained with no help from the council, for the community, for the past 12 years. “We’ve been here, unpaid, for more than ten years,” said Sister Nwanyi. “We’re about empowering people to have a space they can all use. I find it insulting that they want to come here and get us out. They want to put us out and get someone else in, so the first question for everyone here is whether you want the present board to remain,” she said. “We’ve been told the council will put the running of this place out to tender, and they will choose who will run it. We’ve already been told that if we apply to run it, we won’t be successful. We’re feeling bullied. We’ve been told we are not the bona fide organisation that runs this place, and we have no rights. After 12 years, this is an insult.”

£40m Countryside Restoration Trust assets ‘stolen’ from Robin Page in a ‘trustee coup’. Robin Page gives his vision for wildlife friendly farming the British Countryside so disliked by the Zero Carbon lobby . Leveraged buyout: The Countryside Restoration Trust – In 2019 recent appointee David Mills, husband of actress Dame Judy Dench, became active on the board of renowned Cambridgeshire author and broadcaster Robin Page’s Countryside Restoration Trust charity. Over decades Robin had been donated and bequeathed over 2,000 acres, tens of millions of pounds worth of farmland and buildings. This new board faction turned on Robin in 2021 and voted him off the charity he’d founded, [see full details below] leaving him not just heartbroken, but quite rightly feeling robbed of the substantial fruits of his life’s conservation work. To rub salt in the wounds the new clique changed the charity’s name to the Countryside Regeneration Trust, bringing in more commercially-minded new managers for the farms entrusted to them. A wonderful old man who should have been enjoying his retirement was turned into a nervous wreck, seeing enemies everywhere, not knowing who he could trust. He thought the people who’d turned on him to take over his thousands of acres of farms, were his friends. In fact, Robin told me late in 2022, they had indeed pretended to be friends and supporters, while secretly establishing a majority on the board to vote him out. Everything Robin ploughed into his trust was usurped, he said, by the sort of business managers he’d set it up to oppose. Robin died in the spring of 2023.

Was the first communist a British Christian squatter? ‘Great Lives – Gerrard Winstanley’ on BBC Radio 4 [listen here – or here], including Ken Loach. Collective society. Communism. Marxist theory. China and Communism. Wigan Diggers Festival returns – The Land Is Ours celebrating socialist hero Gerrard Winstanley Saturday September 9 sees the return of the Wigan Diggers Festival to Believe Square in the heart of the home town of Gerrard Winstanley. The leader of the 17th century Diggers movement is celebrated in the day-long event, running from 11.30am to 9.30pm, offering music, poetry, ideas and discussions – all for free, which would certainly be approved by the influential political thinker, perhaps best known for his assertion that “The Earth is a common treasury for all”. They will be supported by, among others, local folk-rock band, Vision Thing, classic blues band, McHale’s Permanent Brew, the protest voices of Commoners Choir and musical satire from Bard Company – in among an eclectic mix of indie pop, performance poetry, singer-songwriters, folk bands, rock bands and more! The legacy of Wigan-born Gerrard Winstanley will be the subject of talks and discussions at The Museum of Wigan Life and the Parish Church, including acclaimed film maker, Ken Loach, Ben Kinmont, a member of the provocatively radical California Diggers of the 1960s, who provided free food to the needy, alongside street theatre, anarchic direct action, and art happenings and local activist Lisa Croft introducing Wigan’s proud links to The International Brigade.

Winstanley: a film that digs deep into 17th-century religious activism This black and white biopic of Diggers founder Gerrard Winstanley’s truly level take on these socialist ancestors never sacrifices authenticity for entertainment Winstanley (1975) Gerrard Winstanley began True Levellers, a Christian group devoted to egalitarian and communal living that formed in the wake of the English civil war. They became known as the Diggers, and are often considered precursors of socialists or communists. Few things warm the cockles of a historian’s cold, dispassionate heart like a long list of eminent advisers named in the opening credits of a film. Winstanley shouts out to several museum curators (from the V&A, Tower of London and the Museum of English Rural Life), somebody from the Roundhead Association (yes, it still exists) and a brigadier from the Sealed Knot. A prologue provides historical background, complete with accurate places and dates: 1646: King v parliament. 1647: Oliver Cromwell’s New Model Army “seething with discontent at the outcome of the war” in St Mary’s church, in Putney. 15 November 1647: Colonel Fairfax (Jerome Willis) executes Private Arnold following the Corkbush Field Mutiny. This is sterling stuff, and elegantly filmed in black and white by Hungarian-born cinematographer Ernest Vincze, who later worked on Doctor Who. Top marks.

Suella Braverman – migrants – refugees or economic migrants. ‘A London Lost – Death of an English City’ documentary. History of immigration to UK. Mafia and economic migrants. Asylum policies open up pre-election divisions between Labour and Tories PM rules out ‘burden-sharing’ deal with EU as Keir Starmer says he is seeking closer cooperation with bloc Clear pre-election divisions have opened up between Labour and the Conservatives on immigration as Downing Street ruled out ever accepting an asylum seeker quota sharing deal with the EU, after Keir Starmer’s comments that he would. Labour earlier announced details of a new immigration policy that it said would result in criminals involved in cross-Channel people-smuggling being treated as terrorists. The Labour leader, who was holding talks at The Hague with officials from Europol and other bodies on Thursday, has suggested that an agreement to send back people who cross the Channel could involve accepting quotas of asylum seekers via the EU. In interviews, he would not be drawn on the number of people he would be willing to take in under the deal that Labour believes it can reach with the bloc. Asked later about the progress of the government’s own ongoing attempts to reach a returns agreement with EU, the prime minister’s spokesperson stressed that talks continued, with the caveat that the UK would never agree to a “burden-sharing agreement” where Britain had to accept a quota of migrants. “We have set out that migration across Europe is a shared problem and it involves work with our European partners. The discussions we have had with the EU have been on the basis of sending migrants back on the basis that they travelled through a safe country,” he said. Starmer, who courted controversy in an article for the Sun by labelling those who disagreed with his plans as “un-British”, said seeking closer cooperation with the EU on the issue did not mean a weakening of his stance on Brexit.

Dr. Matthias Ruff – big cartels running European Union – drug companies and WW2 Nazi concentration camps. EU vs Anglo Americans. The Nazi Roots of the “Brussels EU” Published by Dr. Rath Health Foundation – First published in 2010 and containing copies of previously unpublished historical documents sourced from international archives, “The Nazi Roots of the ‘Brussels EU’” proves that the key architects of the European Union were recruited from among the same technocrats who had previously designed the plans for a post-WWII Europe under the control of the Nazis. The Brussels EU is Attempting to Dismiss Our Proof of its Nazi Roots as ‘Pro-Kremlin Disinformation’ Published in 2010 and supported by historical documents sourced from international archives, our book ‘The Nazi Roots of the Brussels EU’ presents a very different history of Europe to that promoted by the continent’s political establishment. Not surprisingly, therefore, in the initial years following the book’s publication, the European Union (EU) avoided drawing attention to it. Since 2016, however, a website related to the European External Action Service, the diplomatic service and combined foreign and defense ministry of the EU, has been making clumsy attempts to whitewash the facts and dismiss the book as ‘pro-Kremlin disinformation.’ With worldwide awareness of the EU’s Nazi roots growing fast in recent years, it seems we have touched a nerve. The whitewashing attempts are published on the EUvsDisinfo website, a database describing itself as “the flagship project of the European External Action Service’s East StratCom Task Force.” Established in 2015, the supposed aim of the site is “to better forecast, address, and respond to the Russian Federation’s ongoing disinformation campaigns affecting the European Union, its Member States, and countries in the shared neighborhood.” The site claims that its “core objective is to increase public awareness and understanding of the Kremlin’s disinformation operations, and to help citizens in Europe and beyond develop resistance to digital information and media manipulation.” Needless to say, the Dr. Rath Health Foundation is not involved in any Kremlin disinformation campaigns or operations. Supported by historical documents sourced from international archives, our book simply reflects the facts. Significantly, therefore, and as we shall examine next, the EUvsDisinfo site blatantly misquotes what we actually say in the book.

Russian economy doing well. Poland. Michael Hudson with Pepe Escobar ….. Vladivostok meeting. New Eurasian currency? CBDCs and Banks. China property collapse. BRICS or NATO? Radhika Desai, Michael Hudson and Pepe Escobar G20 or G77? Summits mark rapidly changing world order Geopolitical Economy Report Political economists Radhika Desai and Michael Hudson are joined by geopolitical analyst Pepe Escobar to discuss the rapidly changing world order at a time of summits of BRICS, G20, and G77 and the UN General Assembly. MICHAEL HUDSON: So we’re dealing really not only with a geographic split, but with a split of economic structures, a mixed public-private economy, not like the Western public-private partnership, which you socialize the losses and privatize the profits, but something where the aim is really not to make a profit, but to make the overall economy grow. That’s the basic principle in all this. And the only thing I can say now that you’re talking about how the West has ignored what you’re doing, there’s a reciprocal ignorance there. By the East, yesterday, the United Nations opened, and actually I watched the 6:30 News, and the 6:30 News had a split screen. On the one hand, there was Ukraine’s President, Yelensky, giving a speech, and on the other was a stock footage of the General Assembly, everybody there, everybody in their seats, and it was the boring speech. But then when it was off, I thought, well, that’s only two minutes. Let me look at the internet and see what happened. And they actually had a picture of the General Assembly while Yelensky was speaking, and it was almost entirely empty. The global majority had walked out, except I think there was an African delegation who were talking among themselves and laughing while Yelensky was speaking. So you have really two different worlds, and they don’t seem to be mixing, except for the extent that the United States can try to come in and slow down the whole process and try to prevent the clock from moving.

Twitter X BBC – emissions from different countries– UK ‘nowhere to be seen’ on list of world’s worst countries for carbon emissions China eclipses other countries’ contributions for carbon emissions, prompting one political commentator to slam the UK’s green focus saying ‘but let’s cull cows, ban gas boilers and enforce ULEZ’. A political pundit has slammed the UK’s focus on climate change by sharing a graph which claims China’s carbon emissions total more than all other countries combined. James Melville, a political commentator and a regular contributer to GB News, shared the live BBC graph on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. The graph details how China’s carbon emissions have grown from 1959 to 2020 and now surpasses all other countries’ contributions – with the UK not even appearing on the top ten list. It comes as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced he’d delay a series of key climate targets at a press conference yesterday (September 21). Mr Melville wrote: “China’s emissions now exceed all developed nations combined…

Standing ovation for Ex Waffen-SS Nazi Ukrainian in Canadian Parliament. British blogger Warren Thornton outing 98 year old Ukrainian, Yaroslav Hunka, as an ex Waffen-SS Nazi. Warren was arrested and questioned! Poland considers bid to extradite Ukrainian Nazi veteran Yaroslav Hunka, 98, after his standing ovation in Canadian parliament and is probing whether he is wanted for crimes against Polish Jews Yaroslav Hunka was a member of the 14th Waffen-SS ‘Galacia’ Division The 98-year-old was a volunteer member of the Nazi brigade during WWII Poland is now seeking to extradite the Nazi from Canada, where he has settled A Polish minister has said the government is considering the extradition of Ukrainian Nazi veteran Yaroslav Hunka from Canada after the north American country’s parliament gave him a standing ovation last week. Poland’s education minister Przemyslaw Czarnek said on Tuesday that he has made a request to extradite the 98-year-old accused Nazi. He said in a post on X, formerly Twitter: ‘In view of the scandalous events in the Canadian Parliament, which involved honouring a member of the criminal Nazi SS Galizien formation in the presence of President Zelensky, I have taken steps towards the possible extradition of this man to Poland.’ The 46-year-old politician said in a statement that he had urged the country’s president to investigate whether Hunka is wanted for crimes against Poland and Polish Jews. Poland’s ambassador to Canada, Witold Dzielski, said the move was still in a preliminary stage. Canada faced international backlash after dozens of its parliamentarians, including prime minister Justin Trudeau, were seen applauding the Nazi veteran, who served in 14th Waffen-SS ‘Galacia’ Division, a voluntary unit made up mostly of ethnic Ukrainians under Nazi command. Members of the division were accused of killing Polish and Jewish civilians during World War II. The Nuremberg tribunals found the Waffen-SS guilty as an organisation of war crimes but not the Galicia division. In recently unearthed blog posts dated as recently as 2011, Hunka describes 1941 to 1943 as the happiest years of his life and compares the veterans of his unit, who were scattered across the world, to Jews. He also admits to having a ‘profitable and affluent life in Canada’ after he left Ukraine.

Justin Trudeau apologizes for mistake. Anthony Rota, Speaker for Canadian House of Commons, resigns. Trudeau apologizes in Parliament – criticism from opposition. Justin Trudeau apologises after Nazi veteran honoured in parliament Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has apologised on behalf of Canada’s parliament after a Ukrainian man who fought for a Nazi unit was unwittingly applauded in parliament. “This is a mistake that deeply embarrassed parliament and Canada,” Mr Trudeau said on Wednesday. Speaker Anthony Rota, who has assumed responsibility for inviting Yaroslav Hunka, 98, resigned on Tuesday. The incident has drawn global condemnation. Mr Trudeau also apologised directly to Ukraine’s leader Volodymyr Zelensky, who was visiting Canada and present in parliament, saying: “Canada is deeply sorry.” The Ukrainian leader was among those pictured applauding Mr Hunka, an image that has been exploited in Russian propaganda. “All of us who were in this House on Friday regret deeply having stood and clapped even though we did so unaware of the context,” Mr Trudeau said. “It was a horrendous violation of the memory of the millions of people who died in the Holocaust.” He said what happened was “deeply, deeply painful” to Jewish people and the many millions who were targeted by the Nazi genocide. Mr Hunka, who fought with a Nazi unit in World War Two, got a standing ovation and was praised as a Ukrainian and Canadian “hero”. He served in the 14th Waffen-SS Grenadier Division, a voluntary unit made up mostly of ethnic Ukrainians under Nazi command. Division members are accused of killing Polish and Jewish civilians, although the unit has not been found guilty of any war crimes by a tribunal.

Nagorno Karabakh to disappear by end of the year, joins Azerbaijan. Lots of seceding going on – UN role? Catalan seceding. Fights over territories. Nagorno-Karabakh will ‘cease to exist’ as separate state on January 1 Authorities of the self-styled Republic of Artsakh order the dismantling of all of its state institutions following a ceasefire deal. Thousands of Armenians flee from Nagorno-Karabakh Nagorno-Karabakh authorities have ordered the dismantling of the region’s state institutions by the end of the year, saying that the separatist state will cease existing as of January 1, 2024. The decision came in a decree signed by the region’s separatist President Samvel Shakhramanyan on Thursday as more than half of the 120,000 ethnic Armenians who used to live in the enclave fled into Armenia following a military operation by Azerbaijani forces last week. The document cited the ceasefire agreement last week which ended the fighting. Under the agreement, Azerbaijan will allow the “free, voluntary and unhindered movement” of Nagorno-Karbakh residents. Baku launched a military offensive on September 19. A day later, separatist authorities said they were forced to lay down their arms and agreed to a Russia-brokered ceasefire. While Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev promised to guarantee the rights and security of ethnic Armenians, decades of distrust, wars, mutual hatred and violence have left many residents of Nagorno-Karabakh sceptical over the possibility of the region’s peaceful reintegration into Azerbaijani territory. In recent days, long queues of cars have formed on the road linking the region to Armenia. A stream of ethnic Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh has fled the enclave. On Thursday, Armenian authorities said more than 65,000 of them have now reached Armenia.

Taboo: over fifty regions ‘want out’ citing Euro-tyrannies in European ‘separatism crisis’: – Separatism: Kosovo, Donbass, Catalonia, Scotland and…? More than 100 governments recognized Kosovo’s self-proclaimed independence 15 years ago, but most of them have their own issues of this kind In February of 2008, Kosovo’s parliament – dominated by Albanian separatists – declared the province’s independence from Serbia. Belgrade objected to the move, but it the new “state” was recognized the very next day by the United States, Britain, France, Türkiye, and Albania. More than 50 countries followed by the end of that year. As of now, almost 100 UN member states have recognized Kosovo’s sovereignty. However, this figure is in constant flux, as some countries have withdrawn their support due to Belgrade’s diplomatic efforts. Nevertheless, Pristina continues to claim that 117 countries support its “independence.” In fact, more than half of the countries belonging to the UN do not recognize Kosovo’s independence. Among these are China, India, most of the post-Soviet countries, as well as several EU members, namely Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Romania, and Slovakia. Russia is one of the main opponents of Kosovo’s declaration of independence and has been consistent about the consequences for the world order. Upon closer examination, it turns out that the vast majority of global states are dealing with some form of separatist issues, ranging from significant to very minor. A Balkan Patchwork Quilt The disputed status of Kosovo is only the latest instance of separatism resulting in the emergence of a new state-like entity in the Balkans. The disintegration of the region has been dubbed ‘Balkanization’, and deservedly so. At the end of the last century, most of the Balkans were incorporated into a united country called Yugoslavia. Today, there are seven independent countries in its place, but this is by no means where it might end. Serbia was the first to face the problem of Albanian separatism, but there are Albanian communities in other nations throughout the region – including Montenegro, Greece, and Northern Macedonia. In the latter, the threat is especially acute, since Albanians, who account for 25% of the country’s total population, live in the country’s western regions adjacent to Kosovo.RT In addition to the Kosovo problem, Serbia has potential issues with Vojvodina – an autonomous region inhabited not only by Serbs, but also Hungarians, who have a very strong regional identity. Kosovo also has its own internal challenges. In the northern part of the province, there is an enclave populated mainly by Serbs, who do not like the prospect of being isolated from their larger homeland. Likewise, problems with separatism have inevitably arisen in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the Republika Srpska, which is part of it, looks towards independence or reunification with Serbia and has increasingly expressed views on the future that contradict those of the central government. The same problem, though less acute, can be found in Croatian enclaves of Bosnia, as well as Croatia itself, where there are enclaves of Serbs….

US shutdown over Ukraine war spending? Russia increasing military spending. Moscow Announces Massive Military Spending Increase to Combat NATO’s ‘Hybrid War’ in Ukraine Moscow announced that it plans to increase military spending by nearly 70% in 2024 as it fights against what the Kremlin has dubbed NATO’s “hybrid war.” Russia’s defense budget next year, which is dwarfed by the Pentagon budget, will still be less than the total amount the US has already pledged to assist Kiev in its proxy war with Moscow. Russia’s Finance Ministry published a document on Thursday explaining that Moscow is set to ramp up defense spending by a whopping 68% to 10.8 trillion rubles ($111.15 billion) next year. At the same time, the Pentagon budget is fast approaching $900 billion, greater than the next ten highest-spending countries combined, while total yearly spending on the national security state is almost $1.5 trillion. The document adds, “the focus of economic policy is shifting from an anti-crisis agenda to the promotion of national development goals… [including] strengthening [Russia’s] defense capacity.” The additional funding is also needed for the process of “integrating” the four regions of Ukraine which Moscow has annexed since its invasion began, namely Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. Additionally, draft outlines for Russia’s budget for the next three years show that – due to an adjustment in the budget rule – an extra 1.7 trillion rubles ($17.72 billion) will be made available in spending from oil and gas revenues. “It is obvious that such an increase is necessary, absolutely necessary, because we are in a state of hybrid war, we are continuing the special military operation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said referring to escalated military spending. “I’m referring to the hybrid war that has been unleashed against us,” he added. Russian Foreign Minister Serey Lavrov has recently railed against Washington, stating “no matter what it says, it [the US] controls this war, it supplies weapons, [munitions], intelligence information, data from satellites, it is pursuing a war against us.”

Russia puts international court’s top leadership on wanted list Moscow steps up retaliation against ICC after it issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin. Russia’s ministry of internal affairs has placed International Criminal Court (ICC) President Piotr Hofmanski on its wanted list, according to the ministry’s online database. The site does not specify what Hofmanski is wanted for, but it states he is “wanted under the article of the Criminal Code,” reported Russian state-run news site TASS. Alongside Hofmanski, the ministry also added ICC Vice President Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza and judge Bertram Schmitt to the wanted list. Moscow has been retaliating against the ICC, which back in March issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia’s Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova over the forced transfer of children to Russia since the Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began last year. Russia said it did not recognize the court’s authority and quickly responded to the arrest warrant by opening its own criminal case against the ICC prosecutors and judges. Since then, Russia has placed several ICC officials on its wanted list, including British prosecutor Karim Khan and judges Tomoko Akane and Rosario Salvatore Aitala.

China – global future white paper . China issues White Paper on global community of shared future, presses on with green BRI projects BEIJING – China on Tuesday unveiled its blueprint for a better world, raised by President Xi Jinping in 2013, through a policy paper on building a global community of shared future. China also said it will continue to push for green development in Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) projects, rejecting accusations that it has outsourced its environmental pollution, a senior official from China’s top economic planner said at a press conference on the wide-ranging policy paper about China’s global vision. The White Paper titled “A Global Community of Shared Future: China’s Proposals and Actions” comes a decade after the vision was first proposed by Mr Xi, and has been presented as his alternative to the current Western-led world order, with an emphasis on what it calls Chinese-style diplomacy and various global initiatives. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the BRI, and China will host the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in October, with leaders and representatives from some 130 countries set to attend, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. By July 2023, more than three-quarters of countries in the world and over 30 international organisations had signed agreements on Belt and Road cooperation with China, the White Paper said. Issued by the State Council Information Office, the White Paper said the vision rises above the exclusive rules of bloc politics, the notion of “might makes right” and the “universal values” defined by a handful of Western countries. China has contributed to building a global community of shared future with actions including promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, state news agency Xinhua said on Tuesday. At the press conference, in a rare appearance beyond his usual annual press conference in March, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that by putting forward the creative idea, President Xi has shown “the correct path for the world”, building a strong consensus for international cooperation. China has also proposed solutions to major global challenges in fields such as health, climate change and cyber security, Mr Wang added. He said Beijing was willing to play a “constructive” role in the success of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in November in San Francisco. It paves the way for a possible meeting between Mr Xi and US President Joe Biden – both presidents last met on the sidelines of the Group of 20 (G-20) leaders’ summit in November 2022 in Bali. Mr Xi did not attend the G-20 summit in India earlier this month, missing an opportunity to meet Mr Biden, and prompting the US to say China was “giving up” on the G-20 and building an alternative world order.

Matt Campbell on the decision this week for the inquest in to his brothers death on 9/11. Film showing Saturday 30th Sep – see Eventbrite. TwitterX – Matt Campbell 911. http://www.ic911.org -In major victory for 9/11 family, UK attorney general withdraws decision to deny family’s application for new inquest The attorney general’s office has advised that a new decision will be made “in due course.” The family expects a new decision no later than the end of the year. We at the International Center for 9/11 Justice are very happy to announce — on behalf of the family of Geoff Campbell — that the decision by the attorney general for England and Wales to refuse the family’s application for a new inquest into Geoff’s murder on September 11, 2001, has been withdrawn. This development comes a little less than two weeks after the Campbell family sent a “pre-action protocol letter” to the attorney general’s office announcing their intention to seek judicial review of the attorney general’s June 2023 decision. The letter included a 21-page submission, to be made to the court, setting forth the family’s grounds for challenging the attorney general’s unlawful and irrational decision, which was issued nearly two years after the family first submitted their application. The attorney general’s withdrawal of her decision one day before the Campbell family was to file for judicial review is a major victory for the family in their effort to open a new inquest into Geoff’s death. The attorney general’s office has advised that a new decision will be made “in due course.” Given how much time has already gone into reviewing the application, the family expects a new decision no later than the end of the year. In light of the attorney general’s implicit admission that the original decision was legally deficient, the Campbell family is confident that the decision will be reversed and is more hopeful than ever that they will have their day in the West London Coroner’s Court — where they will prove that Geoff was killed in the North Tower’s demolition.
