Coleen Rowley, former FBI whistleblower

Rowley began the interview with comments from her June 6, 2017 article for Huff Post and Consortium News, "No, James Comey and Robert Mueller Aren't Heroes," exposing information about them that the liberal media has tried to bury in its pursuit of Trump, such as Mueller's behavior post-911 after downplaying intelligence submitted to the FBI before the attacks and his silence over Cheney's successful efforts to link Saddam Hussein to 911 despite knowing it was false, leading 70% of the public to believe that was true and justification for the war.

Rowley points out than one of the major problems in Washington is that of the “revolving doors” through which key government officials go and in and out jobs in the private sector, most of which have connections to the arms industry and that this applies to both Mueller and Comey, the latter having been a senior official at Lockheed Martin, it wouldn’t have chosen Mueller, the consummate insider.

In two years of his investigations and indictments, she points out, nothing has been proven linking the Russians to Trump’s victory.

The election of Trump, she points out, has turned everything upside down with the liberals who once could be counted on to be antiwar are the most hawkish now, for example, in Syria, while the majority of Republicans seem less so, with the notable exception of the “Never Trumpers,” such as Lindsay Graham, Marco Rubio, and the neocons tied to the Military-Industrial Complex like Bolton who have been able to infiltrate the Trump White House, She attributes that largely to party loyalty and partisanship on the part of Trump’s base which remains reluctant to get involved in foreign entanglements such as Syria and has backed his criticism of NATO and the UN, and US involvement in both organizations.

Rowley points a finger at the media for much of the country’s problems and divisions since, in its race for viewership, listenership, and readership and the profits the most outrageous produce, it produces unsubstantiated stories like Paul Manafort’s alleged visits to Julian Assange and Trump having told Cohen to lie to the Mueller investigation and more recently, the incident at the Lincoln Memorial which appeared in the media, totally distorted, before all the facts were known. How Americans relate to that story will depend on their perspectives to begin with but it clearly exacerbates the divisions within the country that can’t be blamed on the Russians.
