First hour News Review:

Furious backlash after Starmer caves into Panorama whistleblowers – Corbyn criticises ‘political decision’ to hand over out-of-court payment to former staffers in libel case lawyers say the party has a ‘strong defence’ against – During the High Court proceedings on Wednesday, Labour issued an unreserved apology over “defamatory and false allegations” made by the party following the BBC’s investigation. At the same hearing, Labour also apologised and agreed to pay “substantial damages” to John Ware – the journalist behind the Panorama programme – for falsely accusing him of “deliberate and malicious misrepresentations designed to mislead the public.” After Mr Corbyn made his statement, Mr Ware announced that he would be suing the former leader over his comments. Len McCluskey, general secretary of Unite — Labour’s biggest donor — condemned the decision to pay the money as a “misuse of funds” and added that Labour had received legal advice that it would win the case.Left-wing Jewish group Jewish Voice for Labour also described the promise to pay damages from subscription payments of thousands of party members as “deeply disappointing.” It also questioned why there was a “complete media blackout” on the leaked internal party report into the operation of Labour’s disciplinary processes and the “activities of several of the litigants.” David Rosenberg of the Jewish Socialists’ Group told the Star that it is “galling” that money from the subs of “poorer and more exploited sectors of British society” was paid out in a case that the party was advised it could win. He added: “In the last five years, people from the poorer and more exploited sectors of British society have been giving beyond what they could afford to support a Labour Party that was on their side, and fighting for a fairer society for all. “To see that money given away in an out of court settlement on a case which the party was advised it could successfully defend, is galling. “As a Jewish Labour member. I’m concerned about antisemitism from any quarter but I know that the common media narrative about Labour and antisemitism, typified by that Panorama programme, does not stack up…

Report Into Russian Interference in UK Elections a Damp Squib – Election Meddling Report Finds No Evidence of Russian Brexit Interference, Tells Govt to Look Harder – The Independent Security Committee has said that it “saw no evidence” of Russian interference in the 2016 Brexit referendum. The crux of the report, however, criticised the government for failing to task intelligence agencies to look into the possibility, advising the Boris Johnson administration to undertake a review a claim the government has rejected. On Tuesday, the ISC, the body responsible for the oversight of the UK’s intelligence community, released its report on Russian interference in Britain’s democratic processes. In the case study on the EU referendum, the authors criticised the “narrow coverage” given to the possibility of Russian interference, saying “HMG [Her Majesty’s Government] had not seen or sought evidence of successful interference in UK democratic processes or any activity that has had a material impact on an election, for example influencing results.” In a published response to the committee’s report, the Boris Johnson’s UK government rejected the suggestion they had been blind on Russia, and instead was very alive to the possibility of Russian interferrence. The response noted the criticisms, and said: “The Government has long recognised there is an enduring and significant threat posed by Russia to the UK and its allies, including conventional military capabilities, disinformation, illicit finance, influence operations, and cyber-attacks….

Israel’s Unit 8200 Hackers Investigated For Computer Theft – Ynet reports that two of the most élite cyber war units in the IDF came under suspicion several weeks ago. “Tens” of officers and non-commissioned officers in Unit 8200 (IDF’s SIGINT unit) and AMAN’s Unit 81 (military intelligence’s technology unit) are accused of using their hacking skills to derive “economic benefits” for themselves. The article notes that the hacking of the offenders came at the expense of their fellow soldiers in the Units – Those investigated have such high security classifications that the IDF military police needed to get special permission to examine their computers. Because of a security gag order, Ynet could not report the identities of the specific military units involved. But a confidential and knowledgeable Israeli source informs me that they are Units 8200 and 81. Nor did the story explain what crimes they’re alleged to have committed. Based on the term “economic benefit” I assumed it involved conventional computer hacking into commercial or financial sites like banks or stores. The term hatavah kalkalit can also mean “bonus.” My source has heard a separate speculation more along those lines: that those charged falsified their own personnel data to make themselves eligible for raises or promotions. Either offense would be extremely serious. But falsifying personnel records is much more serious internally to the IDF since it violates army regulations. There is an ethic within the army, false though it may be, that everyone is treated fairly and equally. For there to be widespread fraud within one of the IDF’s most élite units is scandalous beyond belief…

Labour calls for review of Russia Today’s UK TV licence – Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has called for state-backed broadcaster Russia Today (RT) to have its TV licence reviewed on the back of fresh warnings about Kremlin interference in the UK. Starmer called on Boris Johnson at today’s Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) to “stop the spread of Kremlin-backed disinformation”, adding that the UK’s High Court had found “Russia Today broadcasts pose actual and potential harm”. It comes as Westminster’s Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) released a long-awaited report yesterday, claiming that Russian interference in UK politics has become “the new normal”. Starmer said at PMQs that it was “time to look again at the licensing for Russia Today to operate in the UK”….

The Ancient Spiritual Roots Of Russophobia – The term “russophobia” (the hatred and/or fear of things Russian) has become rather popular in the recent years, courtesy of the anti-Russian hysteria of the AngloZionist Empire, but this is hardly a new concept. In his seminal book “Russie-Occident – une guerre de mille ans: La russophobie de Charlemagne à la Crise Ukrainienne” (“The West vs Russia – a thousand year long war: russophobia from Charlemange to the Ukrainian Crisis”) which I recently reviewed here, Guy Mettan places the roots of russophobia as early as the times of Charlemagne. How could that be? That would mean that russophobia predates the birth of Russia by a full two centuries? And yet, Mettan is correct, although even he does not paint the full picture. What I propose to do today is not to discuss modern russophobia which has numerous causes and forms, but to look far back into history for the ancient spiritual roots of this relatively modern phenomenon. My thesis will probably trigger even more condescending smirks, expression of outrage and accusations of bigotry and racism than usual. That is fine. In fact, I will welcome them as a visceral reaction to what I propose to uncover below. One glaring weakness of my argument will be that I won’t bother presenting numerous sources as evidence for my assertions. Not only am I not writing an academic paper here, I simply don’t have the time and space needed to substantiate all my claims. Still, all the facts and claims I make below are easily verifiable for anybody with an Internet connection. My goal today is not to convince the naysayers, but to offer a few hopefully useful pointers to those seeking to connect the dots and see the full picture. This being, said, let’s now go far back in time…

A cluster randomised trial of cloth masks compared with medical masks in healthcare workers – Objective. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of cloth masks to medical masks in hospital healthcare workers (HCWs). The null hypothesis is that there is no difference between medical masks and cloth masks. Setting 14 secondary-level/tertiary-level hospitals in Hanoi, Vietnam. Intervention. Hospital wards were randomised to: medical masks, cloth masks or a control group (usual practice, which included mask wearing). Participants used the mask on every shift for 4 consecutive weeks. Main outcome measure Clinical respiratory illness (CRI), influenza-like illness (ILI) and laboratory-confirmed respiratory virus infection. Results The rates of all infection outcomes were highest in the cloth mask arm, with the rate of ILI statistically significantly higher in the cloth mask arm (relative risk (RR)=13.00, 95% CI 1.69 to 100.07) compared with the medical mask arm. Cloth masks also had significantly higher rates of ILI compared with the control arm. An analysis by mask use showed ILI (RR=6.64, 95% CI 1.45 to 28.65) and laboratory-confirmed virus (RR=1.72, 95% CI 1.01 to 2.94) were significantly higher in the cloth masks group compared with the medical masks group. Penetration of cloth masks by particles was almost 97% and medical masks 44%. Conclusions This study is the first RCT of cloth masks, and the results caution against the use of cloth masks. This is an important finding to inform occupational health and safety. Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection. Further research is needed to inform the widespread use of cloth masks globally. However, as a precautionary measure, cloth masks should not be recommended for HCWs, particularly in high-risk situations, and guidelines need to be updated.

Are Mask-Wearers Collaborators With Evil Cabal Set On World Domination? International best-selling author, Dr Vernon Coleman MB ChB DSc FRSA, explains why mask wearing rules are illogical, unscientific and dangerous, and why those who insist on wearing masks are ignorant and are threatening our lives and our future. For more information, please visit http://www.vernoncoleman.com The transcripts of the videos that YouTube banned are also on the website. Dr Vernon Coleman’s track record of spotting health dangers is second to none. Since the 1970s, when his first two ground breaking books (The Medicine Men and Paper Doctors) were published, Dr Coleman has been gaining friends among patients and enemies among doctors and drug companies. In The Medicine Men (1975), Vernon Coleman drew attention to the dangerously close relationship between the medical establishment and the pharmaceutical industry. In Paper Doctors (1977) he argued that most medical research is done for the benefit of researchers (and drug companies) and that the money would be better spent on using the information we already have and encouraging the public to avoid known health hazards. Vernon Coleman, a Sunday Times bestselling author, is one of the few medically qualified authors writing on medical matters without bias and without any professional or commercial commitments or allegiances. His honesty has made him many enemies among the medical establishment and the establishment’s commercial alliances. His predictions, forecasts and warnings have often been made years (and, in many cases, decades) before anyone else has unearthed and understood the evidence or had the courage to speak out. In addition, in many of his medical books and thousands of newspaper and magazine articles he has drawn attention to the dangers of using specific over the counter and prescription drugs…

Illegal Rave At Airfield Was ‘Too Big To Stop’ -Thousands attend illegal rave at RAF Charmy Down near Bath – Numbers had dwindled by Sunday morning from the thousands police said were at the scene overnight. Police say they did not have the manpower to stop an illegal rave near Bath which attracted more than 3,000 partygoers through the night. The event, at the former RAF Charmy Down airfield about three miles from the city, began late on Saturday. People living as far away as Bristol complained they had been kept awake. Avon and Somerset Police said despite officers arriving at the scene within minutes of being alerted there were already “many people at the site”. Ch Supt Ian Wylie said the force was aware a major gathering was likely this weekend, but it was unable to pinpoint where it might take place. Once officers were called to the former RAF station, he said, it was too late. ‘No standing army’ “We got the call just after 23:00 (BST) and we were there within 10 minutes but all the stages were set up and all the music was already going with many, many people at the site,” he said. “It became impossible for us to do anything… because of the safety of those partygoers, many of whom were drunk, many of whom were on drugs, and the safety of the officers attending.” He said it was not possible to gather enough officers to disperse such a large number of people at that time of night. “We don’t have a standing army waiting to deal with these issues,” he added. In an earlier statement, Avon and Somerset Police said despite closing off approach routes, officers were still turning vehicles away on Sunday morning. Ch Supt Wylie said the music was stopped just after 13:00 on Sunday and the site was eventually cleared three hours later. Avon and Somerset Police closed the event down at 4pm on Sunday. Local resident Dulcie Walpole said as well as the noise issue, the arrival of huge numbers of cars had also caused disruption…
