Phil interviews Luke Beirne about the recent light heavyweight title match between Dmitry Bivol and Mexican pugilist Canelo Alvarez.

The fight is interesting politically because only the Mexican anthem was played, while the Russian won the bout. There was a movement to ban the Russian from professional boxing because of his nationality.

The relationship of sports to Cold War politics is fascinating. Beirne points out that no one called for banning US athletes during the US invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.
