Documentary recording of vigil, march, and civil disobedience in Willimantic CT, Mar 20, 2003
Producer: UberJohn Uploaded by:
Audio chronicle of a protest in Willimantic CT that included a vigil on the corner of Jackson St and Main St. (by the "Frog Bridge") where articulate and outspoken protesters are interviewed (segment 1).
A march proceeds up Main St. to an Army National Guard recruiting office and a civil disobedience action proceeds in which 9 people are arrested for blocking the sidewalk. A spokesperson reads a prepared statement describing how each person represents a different person who has died as a result of sanctions or war against Iraq. Arrests proceed. The clinking of handcuffs is heard. The 84 year old spokesperson (a former Manhattan project scientist) is interviewed (segment 2).
The march continues after the arrests. People congregate at the police station. I read the signs and do more protester interviews (segment 3).
Clear excellent audio in the 64kbps version.
