As world economic leaders prepare to gather in Brisbane, local and international community representatives are converging on the city to voice their concerns about the issues the G20 addresses â or fails to address.
Community activists, media makers and local entrepreneurs are uniting to provide the community with a free access media and networking space to ensure that alternative perspectives on the G20 can be heard.
From November 12-16, Wandering Cooks (at the corner of Cordelia St and Fish Lane, South Brisbane) will serve as a venue for community gatherings, creative events and media production. Free wifi, computers and tech support will be available for âcitizen journalistsâ to produce their reports on G20 activities and action.
Speakers present at the launch will include representatives from Wandering Cooks, Refugee Action Collective, global network -Our World Is Not For Sale, BrisCAN-G20 and Friends of the Earth. All share a concern to provide an issues-focused and community generated narrative to the G20 Leaders Summit.
Media makers are invited to attend the space to communicate with locals involved in community responses to the G20.
Wandering Cooks will also host a series of talks on food politics, and civil society discussions on strategies and change making as part of the Peoplesâ Summit. The full Peoplesâ Summit program is available here: http://briscan.net.au/program/
